About this unit

This unit explores why creating a safer learning environment matters, including the background to legislation and the reasons why safeguarding has gained such an emphasis.

You will learn about the legal framework for safeguarding in the FE and Skills sector and how safeguarding is included in Ofsted's Common Inspection Framework (CIF) September 2012. This will help you to consider the policies, procedures and systems that an organisation needs to have in place to protect its learners.

By the end of this unit you will be able to:

Describe why the safeguarding agenda is important in the FE and Skills sector.
