About the modules

There are five modules in this course, each of which looks at a different topic around safeguarding and safer recruitment.

It may not be necessary for you to work through all of the content; your training manager or HR department will be able to advise you which modules are appropriate for you.

The list opposite contains a bit more information about each module. Select a heading to find out more about each one.

Module 1

Looks at the framework for safeguarding:

  • The legislation that underpins safeguarding.
  • The factors that increase vulnerability.
  • Prevalence of abuse and myths around abuse.
  • Signs and indicators of abuse and neglect.
  • Grooming behaviours.
  • What to do if there is a concern.

Module 2

Focuses on ways to create an ongoing culture of vigilance. You will consider how learners and staff can be involved in promoting safeguarding in your organisation.

Module 3

Looks at individual roles and responsibilities within the FE and Skills sector and how this relates to safeguarding.

Module 4

Looks at the processes and practices involved in safer recruitment. You will consider how learners and staff can be involved in promoting safeguarding in your organisation.

Module 5

Includes resources to support you, with information on where to go for further help and advice.
